Genki Japanese for Self-Study?

I was interested in Minna no Nihongo but I heard that it's bad for self-study...possible, but not very practical. My other option was Genki, and I wanted to know if anyone had any experience with these textbooks (or if there's another self-study textbook that's even better). Thank you for all your help.

Genki is the book that i use in clasroom, for auto-learning i think it could be a little confusing some times so i wouldn't recomend it because is more focused to supplement the teaching of the teacher

Right now I'm trying to use it for self study and I like it. I didn't like Japanese for busy people. Genki seems to be really easy to use and understand. I recommend it so far. I will see as I go but I don't yet have any complaints.
