TakaWarumono said:everyone can say the gazettEs old-style "visual kei" era was intresting but i think it's as they just started out they maybe had a lot of ideas for their style, people do but as you grow older you tend to not focus your intrest on looks also i think some members have mentioned this in interveiws.. they want to be recognised for their talent not their looks.
@ Olosta - if you mean number 1 as in lead guitarist then yes though I think both of them are equally talented.
of course they are both equally talented, it´s just that Aoi was worse than Uruha when they begun, hence Aoi developed more that Uruha. I do not think either that Uruha would "lack" practice just because he repeats some parts of rifs...a lot musicians do it even intentionally
Dear i don't know if you know the band LINKIN PARK, SAOSIN, SIMPLE PLAN, WITHIN TEMPTATION, or maybe some other western band that sort of sound like those i mention, believe it or not when i tried learning the guitar part of uruha in their song CASSIS, then tried playing the songs of those bands i mentioned everything turned out to be simple.the way western band play is like more or LESS half of the GAZETTE effort in creating music.<i'm back to ruin lives>
anyway, I noticed something about 3 different songs, the chords Uruha are playing sound a little too similar and I want some other opinions on them.
Listen to these songs in this order: Guren, Kyomu no owari Hakudozume no mokushi, & finally Shiroki Yuutsu
what to listen for in particular: try listening to these songs with earbuds because you'll hear it better.
Alright watch the Guren pv and pay very close attention to Uruha and only him. Listen to his playing (except his solo, solo not important here) now when you listen to the song on a cd/mp3player w/ earbuds Uruha's playing is strongly noticeable in the right ear (or it is for me anyway). After you've listened to the entire song, try listening to the other 2 songs, again listen only to Uruha's playing (single out his guitar ). For Shiroki Yuutsu watch the live preformance on the DIM Tour Final @ Saitama, pay very close attention to Uruha's playing then try listening to the song again on cd/mp3.
when you pay attention to his playing in all 3 songs, his chords on the first 3-4 strings sound all the same (or to me anyway.) Uruha should practice more
here's something cool: when you watch their pvs play close attention to which guitarist is playing what, then listen to the song with earbuds (which is important - clearer/closer/more noticeable sound) everything Uruha plays is presented in the right ear and everything Aoi plays is in the left ear. When Uruha is playing a solo the sound is in surround stereo (you'll hear it in both hears ~ unless you're deaf in one ear) but if Aoi is playing the solo, in the left ear you'll hear Reita's bass a bit more clearly and defined. Sometimes I find it hard to hear Reita's bass at all.
I know some people can't listen to just one instrument in particular in songs but try your best. Watching the pv/live preformance helps you remember the sound so you'll notice it a lot more quickly while listening to the cd/mp3.
maurice; linkin park? saosin? simple plan? well.. i dont even want to say what i think of them XD most of these days' music is no good. gazette is one of very few bands i listen to who is still active today.
Whoa, whoa, wait. You just said a mouthful there. Evidently that was based entirely upon the aforementioned American bands, I will assume that it is a jab at western music since I see this an awful lot with Japanese rock fans. That is a sweeping statement and I cannot agree with that since I listen to a lot of active western bands and I am not utterly fixated on Japan, nor do I have this irritating mindset of ツ'oh, everything from Japan is better because it is Japanese, everything western does not compare'.NINA dear i agree music today is no good. GAZETTE really is the artist today that i could play throughout my ipod. thay have a sense of creativity in their music.
no offense intended but guys here who tried playing guitar knows that compare to other artist gazette music is really way too complicated than other overrated western bands.
Since when was good music about looks? "We all know" No, we don't. Perhaps looks are important to you, but don't come saying they are so for everyone. For all I care Ruki can continue dressing like a gay christmas tree, his voice is still fantastic, and that's what counts when you listen to the music, at least for me. I don't sit and think about what they look like, I listen to the music.Property of Reita said:I just hope I'll like their further work cuz it's really worth it and not only cuz they're Gazette, If you know what I mean.
I was talking about music here but it's also related to their look. I don't want casual Gaz-boys. We all know, wanted or not, music is not just about music nowdays. It's also about style. Always.
You're describing a very common way of making songs and presenting it like it's typical gazette, but I believe most bands "incorporate different melodies, riffs, solos, style of playing, etc. to make distinctions on which song is which". Here, again, you seem to be saying that many of gazette's songs are originally written from the same template with minor changes. I disagree.maurice72714 said:what makes things interesting is how they are able to incorporate different melodies, riffs, solos, style of playing, etc. to make distinctions on which song is which. so i guess that's what makes them so creative. i haven't heard any band that sounds the same as them.
Again, I disagree, and I really don't think you need to know how to play guitar to realise that gazette isn't "way more complicated than other overrated western bands". Again, gazette is not superior just because they're japanese.maurice72714 said:no offense intended but guys here who tried playing guitar knows that compare to other artist gazette music is really way too complicated than other overrated western bands. but though complicated it really sound nice.
Pretty much this.Ruu said:A lot of currently active western bands are very good in comparison to Gazette. I am not talking about the crap you see on Kerrang that's just a carbon copy of the previous 'big thing' and I'm not just talking about rock either since that is a small section of the music industry, I'm talking about all the bands out there that are genuinely creative and 'fresh' just like Gazette. As seen in the western world with bands like Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance etc. Japan also have some truly crap bands that have been manufactured for a certain audience. You cannot generalise western music just with those kinds of bands, just as you cannot generalise Japanese music with bands like Gazette.
