Forum upgrade to vB 3.8.0

Yesterday we upgraded the forum to the latest version of vBulletin. Some of the new features include social group discussions, private message filtering, private message quick reply, lightbox navigation, and thread prefix permissions. @ Social groups, forum tags

In addition to Social Groups I would like to draw your attention to the "forum tags". Thread tagging is a system that allows users to apply their own keywords (tags) to threads and helps other users find relevant info on the forum. Therefore, whenever you start a new thread, please fill the tag field with relevant keywords.

@ Forum style

We are going to implement a new, simplified layout soon (time permitting), reducing the number of forum styles to just one. In particular, we will remove the JavaScript-based top menu on all pages, as it interferes with a couple of other forum functions, such as post and thread editing.

@ German, French, Italian subfora

Due to their inactivity, we have removed the German, French and Italian-language subfora as well as the respective language files. English will remain the forum's official master language. In case we find a good translation for the forum software we might add Japanese as secondary custom language.
