Flash Card Advice

Hi, I wonder if anyone can tell me the best way to use Japanese flash cards. I currently have them set up so I see a Japanese word in kana, I then have to remember the writing in Kanji and the meaning of the word.

I've been thinking lately of changing this around to seeing the word in kanji, meaning I must recall the reading and meaning of the word.

Any suggestions?
