The final stage of the gargantuan redevelopment project around Shibuya Station in Tokyo is now underway, marking what many have described as a "once-in-a-century transformation." Previous phases of the project have already led to a significant reconfiguration of the station's layout, including constructing a pedestrian deck that links the eastern and western parts of the station.

Enhancements have also been made to the station square, home to the famous Hachikō (ハチ公) statue, a beloved symbol and popular meeting spot. Several new high-rise complexes, such as Shibuya Sakura Stage, have opened in the surrounding area as part of the revitalisation. Tokyu Corporation, one of the leading developers, stated that the project was initially slated to be completed by March 2028. The timeline has been pushed back by seven years, with the new target date set for March 2035.
