Travel Favourite outside onsen in winter

Hi all,
I was planning on going to northern Honshu in the near future. I really like the outside onsen particularly in winter with snow. I was hoping to get some suggestions on peoples favourite spot. I plan to stay for a couple of nights.

Although there is not 露天風呂 there, how about 酸ヶ湯温泉[Sukayu Onsen] in Aomori Prefecture, which is one the snowiest place in the world? TV news says that they have over 3m of snow now...

Those are some serious average snowfalls. Over 17 meters! How is it for transport in the winter in Aomori city? Do the trains etc often get delays?

They have complimentary shuttle service between JR Aomori station and the inn for registered overnight guests.

JR is usually on time, but yes they may sometimes get delays due to heavy snow.

I'm a bit afraid that if I go there, my trip around Tohoku region will stop as I won't want to leave. Very beautiful.

Wow those locations are spectaular! this region is definately on my to do list. Have you been to Tsurunoyu onsen?
With 7 Inns it will be hard to choose just one.
Luckily they have the Yumeguri-cho pass.
