"ever"

I think a normal person would say the same sentence and leave out "ever" completely. To my ear, "Slightly more than half the people think that a big earthquake will occur there sometime in the future." makes more sence.

Im with uncle frank on this one. A native speaker is very unlikely to stick the 'ever' in. It doesn't sit very comfortably there.
