Preview and Editing Problems

What I have noticed is that when I preview a post I have made for spelling and grammar mistakes that there are no spaces between paragraphs anymore and I have to go back and seperate the paragraphs again before clicking "submit reply".

This really has become a pain lately. Has anyone else been experiencing this?

I have been experiencing exactly the same problem. I kind of started to skip previewing now, but I would be happy if this can get fixed.

Same here. I'm glad the two of you mentioned this, actually.

I was going to bring it up myself, but I held off because I thought maybe it was my browser's fault (I'm using Firefox, and an older version to boot -- since I've because I've been too lazy/busy to upgrade.)

I can't remember when this started, but yes, it would be great if this could be fixed.

The last thing I want to do is hassle the admins though -- I'm sure they're just as busy (if not more) than I am.

I have just edited one of my posts, so that obviously works. However, I have noticed the missing line brakes as well. I will inquire into that.

Please hang on.

Thanks Thomas for looking into it and to the others who have mentioned they have the same problem. I also thought it must've been me or my computer as it suddenly started occuring one day last week.

I second the thanks for bringing it up. That's something that's been bothering me as well.

This server is definitely acting odd. It's not just the edit function.

Sorry to say that paragraphs are still not seperated when previewing or editing a post or writing a PM as can be seen in others' posts. Any updates on this?

I think the line feed issue is dependant on if the text you are editing has specific tags or not. It's been bugging me to, so I'll see if I can narrow it down to something duplicatable.

Yes, this is very annoying. When the linebreaks are gone between paragraphs in an edit, we have to go back and look for the places and then space them again. Not bad for short posts, but when they are 4 or 5 paras, it becomes bothersome.

Any word on this problem yet, Thomas?

OK ... I'm in on this one too ... it is a little bit of a P.I.T.A.
Previewing the first time is OK, but then edit and "re-preview it" (is that a woid?) and the line breaks are gone.
It didn't used to be like this. Seems to have happened about late November or early December, last year.

Damn!

Just previewing seems to kill the line breaks !

Hadn't noticed that until just now!

Unfortunately not. I have tried to disable the DHTML menu, but that does not seem to be the culprit. Frankly, I have never experienced these problems on the other vB fora I am running.

As we are currently busy with site migration I will take of the issue after GW.

In my case simple editing also kills the breaks.

I just noticed something that may help everyone here when I was browsing through the "Edit Options" section of my User CP (click on "My Settings"). Go down to the "Miscellaneous Options" section, and where it says "Message Editor Interface" (it's the first box) try selecting the "Enhanced Interface -- Full WYSIWYG Editing." I just started using it, and it seems to take care of the problem of missing line breaks so far.

[Edit] I've found a problem with it: if you try to "go advanced" from a quick edit (when the window pops up on the thread without taking you to a new screen) the enhanced editing feature doesn't work. But it still works better than the standard editor.

I just found another problem: it doesn't work when you preview a post.

This is going to seem pretty Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, but it worked earlier when I previewed with it -- the line breaks remained mostly intact. There did seem to be the occasional deletion, though (not sure why that would be).

Me again

I think it's only the first line break that gets deleted when previewing. Has anyone else tried this out yet?

Alright, Glenn san, I just changed my settings as you taught and I'm using the standard editor.

Now I'm going to preview this.

I really hope this will work good.

doki doki suru ne!

Ok. 3.....2.......1..... GO!!! Preview!!!

Heeeey! It turned out perfect!

All the paragraphs stayed separated when I previewed. Thank you so much, Glenn san, you are awesome!

I think I should check if it still works when I use those functions such as "insert image", "QUOTE" and "Bold".

I'm again using the standard editor (not the "quick reply" ), and I'm really feeling excited since this problem has been annoying like hell.

ツ?ゥThey are Kikkoro and Morizo from the World Expo in Aichi last year.

They said
I wonder how many of the members here visited the expo.

Ok, 6 paragraphs... I'm ready to preview this.

*After previewing*

Everything looks fine...

*clicks on "Preview Post" again*

*after changing the photo URL and previewing again*

Glenn san, I see no problem and feeling so happy! Arigatou!

Ah, good. I'm glad to have been of service.

yeah..me too..

what happen ?

also, how to delete a post ?
sometimes i made some mistakes...double post..

you cannot delete posts, you have to request a moderator to delete them for you. The line-break problem hasn't happened to me lately, so that might be fixed.
