I'm in some trouble regarding accommodations. The place my best friend and I were going to book for our trip has now filled up completely, and we're scrambling for accommodation around Tokyo for a month during holidays (I'll arrive a few days ahead of him, on Dec. 5th, and he arrives Dec. 8th...we both leave around Jan 6th/7th).
Incidentally, that place we were going to stay was priced at 79800 yen for 1 month, all utilities and the "management fee" included (plus each apartment had an ensuite bath / toilet). So yes, it was a great deal (and also in a decent area, Kichijoji). So I guess that would be roughly our price point, around 80000 yen inclusive for the month? I know this is just pure desperation at this point, but does anyone have any sort of suggestions? We're both a bit leery of shared bathrooms, we've done hostelling before and the personal hygiene of fellow travellers, uhh, left much to be desired! I guess at this point though, so close to our departure dates, beggars can't necessarily be choosers. Any helpful suggestions and counsel at this point would be greatly appreciated!!
Just FYI: I contacted this place at the end of September, in regards to booking a place ahead of time, and I was told that it was too early, and that I would need to wait until about a month before. So, I did, and was told that it was still too early -- and to wait two weeks prior to that point. Well, today I checked that company's website for that particular spot, and it was all booked up! I think I am beginning to understand the frustration foreigners feel with the inflexible nature of Japanese customer service ... and I haven't even visited yet! Oh boy...
