The d-audio is a music player that I have had my eye on for the past few weeks. I saw Ayumi Hamasaki wearing it in a commerical.
does anyone know where I can purchase this mp3 player? Through like ebay or something?
Thanks.

d-snap.jp is the site I believe

here is the direct link: panasonic.jp/d-audio/sd800/spec.html

So you're familiar with its features and know that it is the player that best fits your needs? Or you're just dying to have it because some J-Popper is plugging it?
Either way, it is available from Amazon: Amazon.co.jp : SV-SD800N

That Ayumi Hamasaki advert is about a year old, as is the product which launched about the same time those ads were run... It takes SD cards (okay... why...?) and its menus, manuals, packaging and everything else are probably in Japanese, since as far as I know like many of the other SD format players, it is only sold in Japan.

Here's a link on the initial Launch (which was apparently November of last year):

Panasonic Releases Four D-Snaps and a Couple of Micro Stereos

The models shown on the page that Mike linked are newer models it looks like, the launch models were the SD350v & the SD750v, and at 15,562en (the price quoted on the page) you're spending about as much as you would on a 2gig ipod nano.

You're much better off just getting an ipod, feature for feature, the product is still ahead of the curve. I've not read any reviews of the d-snap, there aren't any written in Japan. They don't review products there--- that's bad for business... There seems to be an editor's review on ZDNet Japan, but I didn't bother to translate it...

I think you could do better as far as portable music options go, and as Mike said, I hope you're main reason for buying this isn't simply because you saw Ayumi Hamasaki pimping it... And why all the urgency, why become so obsessed with something so frivilous as consumer electronics?

ed: Also, how are you going to get your music ON the device... Probably using Japanese software which may A) not work on a non-Japanese OS, or B) not be readable on an OS not set to use Japanese as the default language, or at best C) the application will be entirely in Japanese.

Still want one?

I keep waiting to see taeter tot say something cogent, informed, and sensible in a thread. It gives me something to live for.

You could get hooked on a good daily tv-dorama, you know one that didn't use cultural stereotypes & wasn't written for either stay-at-home moms or 13 year old girls, and... oh, uhm.... yeah.

Nevermind.

You wouldn't happen to be BigOzBob from Maktos, would you?
