Couple Questions for traveling to japan

hi, im traveling to Japan (Tokyo to be exact) for a week and had a couple questions.

1) are there any locations to rent box trucks there? much like a u-haul place in America?
2) where is the best place to stay that's pretty cheap?
3) am i able to use a credit card from America there?

^ the answers to all of your questions are yes. I have rented 2 ton trucks and vans before - although I did use my Japanese credit card. Visa and MasterCard should be fine though. Some places don't accept American express.

I forget the name of the company I used, but they were not too expensive, and I'm pretty sure there are many such companies.

There tons of cheap places to stay. It depends what you want, and where you want it. It's possible to sleep in internet cafes if you're on a tight budget. Sounds rough but it's actually pretty good for the money (you get a soft floor to sleep on). Expect to pay about 1500yen for that. Alternatively, you can stay for free with people via couch surfing. Details of both of these places are on my blog but I wouldn't DREAM of linking to it

A proper hotel will start around 6500 per night (10,000 is about average). Hostels can be found for 2000-3000 and capsule places will be about 2,500.

You can rent trucks in Japan and you can use a US-based credit card to rent it. Be sure it is a Mastercard or Visa--and also be sure you have an international driver's license (available at AAA for a modest charge) before you leave--they (and the police) don't honor US driver's licenses. There is one possible hitch with a US credit card: for some reason, only a few gasoline stations accept American cards. Gas stations are the only places I routinely have difficulty using any of my cards and I don't know why.
