Considerations for tourists - before you go.

My advice for tourists are as follows:
1. Bring along your travel insurance policy-falling sick in Japan is not cheap.
2. If you have a medical condition, bring some papers along from your family doctor.
3. Some western friends told me that they can show by their gestures what their illness is at the pharmacy. Try telling the poor chap at the counter that you have constipation. Bring along medication especially if you have weak stomach, etc. to spare yourself some inconvenience.
4. If you wear spectables or glasses, bring along an extra pair or contact lenses. In Japan, you need to visit the eye doctor and get official prescription before you can even order a pair of replacement glasses. (Note: eye doctor ==> means 1. not sure if travel insurance can cover?!)
5. Bring along credit cards is of course necessary. Make sure you bring a few in case one of them hits the limit when you fall prey to the shopping bug or your auto bank payment for your credit card fail back home. The second incident happened to me before.
