Confusing structure

Ok, I'm reading a manga and I come across this part that a six year old could most likely easily decipher, yet I'm struggling pretty hard with it. It's from the second issue of Dragon Ball, and here it is:

「悪魔の帝王とよばれムチャクチャ恐れられている牛魔王が悟空ののっている筋斗雲をみて」

Now to focus on the parts I don't get:

1.悪魔の帝王とよばれ
Why the stem form here for 呼ばれる？ Is it and adjectival phrase or what?

2.ムチャクチャ恐れられている
There is no particle here to denote how ムチャクチャ is being used. I'm guessing as an adverb, but I'm not sure at all.

Here is a key to the names for those of you that have never read this cool manga (or seen the show):
悟空（ごくう）: Goku
牛魔王（ぎゅうまおう）: Ox King
筋斗雲（きんとうん）: Nimbus --a cloud Goku rides around on.

You're right, it applies to the verb 恐れられている.

The structure is as follows :
<main> 牛魔王 look at 筋斗雲
<description of 牛魔王> 牛魔王 who is called 悪魔の帝王 and people are ムチャクチャ afraid of him
<description of 筋斗雲> 悟空 ride on 筋斗雲

Thanks a lot, PaulTB and wakaP. So what exactly is the topic here? What would come before は at the beginning if there were something? If there are a lot of things that could go there, could I just get a few to better understand this?

*Is the に ok there?

Is 呼ばれ not the complete verb 呼ばれる because it is continuing the adjectival phrase?

Plus, here's my translation of it:
"The Ox King, whom is called the emporer of devils and terribly feared (by all?), looked at the cloud Goku was riding on and..."

「悪魔の帝王とよばれムチャクチャ恐れられている牛魔王が悟空ののっている筋斗雲をみてその昔師とあおいだ武天老師窶ｦつまりあのファンキーじいさん亀仙人にもらったものだと知り態度がコロツと かわった窶ｦ」

"The Ox King, whom is called the emporer of devils and terribly feared by all, looked at the cloud Goku was riding on....it was of his old teacher, whom he looked up to、Muten'roushi. In short, now that he knew the cloud was given to Goku by that funky old turtle hermit, his attitude changed altogether."

Betcha it was a _small_ ッ at the end there.

Haha, yeah. I think it was too....dang hiragana to at the end confused me; I thought it was a particle. Well, I think it's done, and I'm going to just add the "by all" in there as I'm pretty sure he wasn't feared by just some --the guy's freakin' huge. It looks as though you've done a really good job understanding and translating this. I just thought that I would address these questions, as they haven't been yet. Not all sentences have topics. This is one of them. It only has (basically) a subject, direct object, and verb. Aside from that there are some modifiers, which you already know.

Topics basically represent old and known information, so if you are saying something for the first time, or something that is not known, there will not be a topic. For instance, if I say 日本に行った時が楽しかった (even if it is a bad example), this means that the listener didn't know that I went to Japan, or at least that I think they don't.* If I say 日本に行った時は楽しかった, then it sounds as though I am answering a question about when I went to Japan, or assuming that the listener knows that I went there.

*This could also be interpreted as a focus, which would be like answering the question, "what was fun?"

Sorry if you knew this already, but I wanted to be as thorough as possible in answering the question. :sorry:

Actually, I didn't know that. Thanks for the knowledge Glenn. Now I have a completely new perspective on が and は, but I have to practice it a bit more because I know I'll make the same misunderstanding in the future.
