Interesting news for coin collectors out there: Japan will issue coloured commemorative coins on the occasion of the 5th Winter Asian Games that will be held in Aomori in February. The Japanese Mint Bureau will issue 50.000 silver coins (at 1.000 ¥ face value) that show the official emblem of the games as well as *the* symbol of Aomori: apples (in red, dark red and blue).

Sugoi ! I had never seen coloured coins before. Is that the metal like this, or is it just painting ?

They will be the first coloured coins ever minted. I think it's painting.

Hm, I'm not collecting anymore, but thinking...

Not sure if they are coloring the metal or not. There are quite a few collector coins over here that are colored but they are all painted.
