Chat events?

Hi guys
I was wondering if you hold any events in your chatroom?
That could be interesting to have a time (maybe 2 times so that people on the 2 sides of earth can have a chance to come) every week on saturday or sunday for example when there would be chat events. It could be to discuss specific subjects related to Japan, maybe some games like quizzes, or simply meet between nice people to find new friends or simply have a group chat.

Ok this is just a proposition since you have this nice chatroom and I did not find yet information about possible events held in it. If there re then I apologize, I did not search enough maybe

Sad To Say !!!!

The chat room gets ignored way too much nowdays. A year or two ago, we would have up to 8 or 10 members in chat on some nights . It was a great way to get to know each other and make new friends. I try and watch for people in there and go in to chat, but it doesn't happen too often lately. Maybe we can get some of our newer members to start using it again. I think it has a lot of great features for a chat room. Hope to bump into you in there someday soon.

I just went in and nobody was there. I guarantee an IRC room would be far more active than an in-browser only chatroom

Yeah just went there as well and nobody. The thing is as there aren't thousands of people always on the website nobody goes there or when you go it is just for a few minutes and then you go since there is nobody.
That is why I brought up the precise time or even events held in there to try to give it more impact.
Ok lets say I propose tomorrow (Saturday) to be there at both 10AM and 7PM Pacific time which is 1 pm and 10pm for new yorkers and 2AM and 11AM (sunday) for Japan. I'll be there for at least 30 minutes, anybody's welcome to join ;-) At least you're sure to find one person at that time.

Just a suggestion, that perhaps the mods or admins could comment on, but how about using this thread as a kind of 'call to chat' as well as announcing specific chat times and topics?

That way it would show up on the latest posts list, and might encourage more folk to enter?
