hey, i just opened an account at smbc because it was the only bank in my area that doesnt require me to have a stamp, then i tried cashing in a money order is us funds but apparently it is un heard of... does anyone know the Japanese equivalent to a money order or someway i can cash it in..i want to eat

Why don't you try the post office? My friend cashed in some money orders before I'l ask him how he did it for you. But I think they charge a fee or something.

Yeah I asked my friend and he just went and cashed it in at the local bank, no charge. Don't think he even needed to open up a bank account at the time. So you could try another bank, maybe a larger one that's more use to dealing with tourists.
