Can't search Japanese text?

I've tried a couple of times to search for Japanese text, but it doesn't seem to work. I get the "too short, too common, etc." error message whenever I try it, even though I know that it doesn't fall into those categories most of the time, if ever. Is there a way to get this fixed?
