Book Review Bending Adversity: Japan and the Art of Survival

I've got this book. It's extremely well written and readable and the range of people the author manages to interview, including the normally reclusive Haruki Murakami, is very impressive. It was written shortly after the 2011 disaster and the start of Abe's premiership. My only issue with the book is that he brushed under the carpet the concerns that Abe would devote his energy to trying to turn Japan into one similar to the 1930s, which turned out to be quite well founded.

I have just started reading the first edition and will review it later. It seems a second edition leading up to the Reiwa period has just been published.
