"Believe" song translation troubles.

Hi guys ^^ I hope you're not all sick of me yet...I'm so appreciative of any feedback I can get!

どこか遠くで声がきこえる
暗闇の中で名前を呼ぶ方へ
向かっても何も見えないとき
ただヒザかかえうずくまってた

Somewhere far away, you can hear a voice
Call out your name in the midst of the darkness.
When you can no longer see what is in front of you
I'll just be waiting with a throbbing embrace.

I'm not sure about the last line of this verse..."Hiza" is written in Katakana and I'm not sure what that is precisely...I'm not sure if "aching/throbbing embrace" is the best way of translating this line...


不安と孤独おそうこの場所から
やさしく手にぎって連れ出してくれた

Feelings of isolation and anxiety attack me in this place,
Won't you take me away, with your gentle hand held tightly to mine.

I'm just wondering with this line...is Kureta the past tense of kureru?

Here is my take on it.

どこか遠くで声が聞こえる
Somewhere far away, I can hear a voice (calling me)

暗闇の中で名前を呼ぶ方へ向かっても 何も見えないとき、ただ膝かかえ うずくまってた
Not being able to see anything when I walked toward the direction from where I heard the voice calling my name, I just sat there on the ground ( crouched down) holding my knees to my chest (ひざかかえ or ひざをかかえ).

うずくまる is to crouch down, not to be confused with うずく.

不安と孤独おそう この場所から、やさしく手 にぎって連れ出してくれた
You took me away, holding my hand gently, from this place filled with uncertainty and loneliness (or more literally, from this place where uncertainty and loneliness torment me)

It is hard to make it sound like a lyric... especially the first part. lol

edit: I don't know why HIZA was written in Katakana. Maybe it was ピザ（PIZZA)! If that were the case, the translation would be " I crouched down on the ground holding a pizza"....lol
As unlikely as it sounds, you can never tell with pop songs these days.

Ohhh man that makes so much sense now! I had no idea uzukumaru was an entire verb....I'm such a baka >< I've amended the lyrics now to better reflect the real meaning now ^^;;

I just collapsed to the ground holding my knees to my chest

From this place that torments me with loneliness and anxiety
Your gentle hand held mine tightly and took me away.

LOL I can imagine that XD I had no idea why it's written in katakana either. I notice in the kanji of a lot of pop songs they tend to write certain words in katakana for emphasis like アイシテル or ホントー...perhaps its just for emphasis. But I have a feeling she isnt collapsing to the ground holding a pizza hahahahaha. That made my day ^^;
