Having to log in again after typing a long post, researching mid-post, trying to upload a picture or video mid-post, or leaving the computer and coming back and attempting to post is getting frustrating.

I am grateful that I have never lost a post at JREF during this process, but still, I would rather not have to do this.

I looked for user options on this but found nothing. And as it seems to be a recent problem I am guessing it has to do with the recent overhaul.

What can be done about this? I would prefer to never be auto logged out personally.

Hi Mark, cookie sessions are set to 15 minutes, if I remember correctly. You will only be locked out in case of inactivity.

Thanks for the feedback, I will take a look at the issue tonight.

While I haven't changed the cookie session time (900s), I have slightly tweaked the cookie settings. Let me know if there are any changes. Also, the forum software has an auto-saving feature, so your posts shouldn't get lost in case of inactivity.

I have not lost a single post here at JREF, and believe me, I appreciate that very much. I have lost posts at other sites.

Thanks for looking into this Thomas. I will let you know if anything changes.

I just lost a post during the sign in process.

I am sorry about the inconvenience, Mark, I know how annoying it is to lose a long post.

What I have done now is to increase the timeout session to 30 minutes (from 15). Also, have you checked the "Remember Me" box in the login? If so you should (in theory) only be logged out in case we reboot the server.
