besides Alcohol, what other drugs are accepted (legal or not) in japan?
i know cannabis is hated, meth is all over from what i hear...
but are there any phychedellics in japan that are accepted/dont have heavy jail time...like different species of shrooms?

i heard 5 years for possession of cannabis, sometimes i wish they werent so narrowminded and scared of westernization.

i believe those, but in reality, it seems every country has its own morals on what is right and what is wrong, i just figured japan might be like that too.
isnt it like that in china with opium?
or is that just a rumor because alot of opium dens were run by chinese immigrants?
 
Like I said, alcohol and tobacco are no problem legally or morally.
Anything else and you're getting in trouble.

What is all this bizo about drugs!

Surely they are not good for anyone so why on earth would you venture to Japan to use them, ignoring the fact that they are illegal and I'm sure not accepted in most places around the world, except Afghanistan.
 
Until a few years ago many kinds of psychadelic mushrooms were quite legal in Japan. I used to work with a chap who enjoyed them a lot in his free time. He also told me that he bought peyote, so presumably that was also legal.

I also saw myself, quite a few times in certain areas, legal 'alternatives' to various illegal drugs being sold. Quite probably, with time, some of these have also been banned, but no doubt entrepreneurs have been able to find other substances to peddle.

I would say to anyone 'be very careful with all these'. Just because they're not yet illegal doesn't mean they aren't potentially very nasty and dangerous substances themselves.

It is really sad to see this part of Japanese culture destroyed... say what you want about drugs in general but cannabis is in another league entirely... nobody that knows the truth about it and its effects can say that it isn't beneficial for some people, and relatively unharmful too.
 
yeah, it really is sad japan thinks it will turn into an america if it allows small drug lenience, i heard you could/can buy mushrooms all over, usually by street vendors.
i have a feeling NOTHING is accepted in japan, not even mushrooms anymore

its the same plant, but think of it like this, cannabis is like a cow on growth hormones...ok no thats a bad comparison.
hemp is the same as cannabis, but cannabis is grown for smoking to the best effectivness, as opposed to hemp, which wont really get you that high because its not made for thc bulk, its made for strong fibers.

if hemp was legal, that doesnt mean weed will be legal basically
 
Hemp has only trace amounts of THC; trying to smoke it like a drug would be like shooting up with saline. Hemp is only good for its 50,000+ industrial uses, it's not a drug.

The Indian breed, hemp, cannabis or whatever you may call, with much THC is nothing sustanable at all, but it is a dangerous species in terms of biodiversity in Japan.

I assume native J Hemp is the pre-WWII stuff? All hemp from that time had less THC. Hybridization in the 80s made the grass a lot stronger. Most kind bud now is way more potent than what our hippie parents were smoking as they ran naked through fields.

The idea of the long cultural backgrand of hemp is, therfore, irrelevant to the smoking culture.
Or you will have to wait for another 10000 years before you can say it is similar to the Jomon pot. But the Jomon culture will have 20000 year history then.

stop with your insults and your opinions please, i never even said i take "drugs"
the majority of people take them to cope with their failing life, an experience everyone feels and eventually lives with...THAT is the wrong reason to take drugs, that is abusing drugs,
there is no way to truly abuse something from the earth, but that is the wrong way to respect substances.
all substances are good, none are evil, some refresh your mind, some kill you.

people/americans indulge in substances in a destructive fashion, sometimes smoking 20 dollars worth of cannabis in one sitting.
or other substances in irregular dosages. this is wrong.
to any cannabis consumers out there who act like this, you need not smoke this plant so fast...and you need not smoke as much as the average person does, unless its some special occasion for you....

people smoke too much, too fast, and then they point the finger at substances like cannabis by saying it ruined their life, when THEY ruined their life...
just like if an addictive videogame came out...and someone played it till they dehydrated and died...they would blame it on the game instead of the controller.

When there's a will, there's a way. People look at alternatives to destroy their lives and if it's not drugs, it will be something else. Trust me on this one. I don't think there is anything positive about heavy drugs. But yeah, they exist and users of these blame their already ruined lives on drugs when they were the ones who by their own will knew the consequences and STILL decided to give it a try.

Oh, and discussions like this are good for people to know about the dangers of falling addictive to chemicals. I'm glad forums like this are being discussed for people to know what they are in to for the ride.

I'm up for drinking, though.

i lost two people to alcohol poisioning, because they were foolish and drank too much, even though one of them quit drinking the night before they died.

alcohol isnt funny, alcohol isnt a sunny beach with friends, it isnt a joyride.
alcohol is a drug too, so you my friend are choosing to use alcohol instead of a different drug, alchy is worse than many illicit drugs, it has the same properties of addiction and consumption of the host human...

this thread is becoming so offensive to everybody...that is why there shouldnt be one, i wish i could just as an question and get a mature answer.

creepingsnow7, there are variants of cannabis, hemp is just one of them, there are also varying strengths. One of which is known as skank, and gives users an incredible high, but also has the bad side effects of making that person hyperactive, gives them mood swings and gives them a violent attitude in the long run or so I have heard.
I am no authority on drugs, but that is just what I have heard.
I like the odd drink or two, but the drinking of alcohol depends on the person - there is such a thing about some people having an addictive personality.
