About Hotel reservation in Japan

I am currently planning to land at Osaka (Kansai) Airport at 1700hrs but I may not be able to proceed to Tokushima because it will be past working hours.

My University is planning a hotel reservation that goes for about 16K Yens. I find this too expensive.

Do you people know of a hotel within Kansai that I may book a reservation at a cheaper price probably 10K Yens and below?

Or somewhere in Tokushima that I can spend a night at a cheaper price? Or can someone host me for just a night because I plan to proceed to Tokushima Daigaku the next day? I will appreciate. I am a new person in Japan and this will be my first trip to Japan

You should be able to find "business hotels" (Toyoko Inn, Dormy, APA, etc.) with single rooms priced between 6,000 and 10,000 yen. Capsule hotels or minshuku (pensions) might even be cheaper.

Last bus to Tokushima is 18:07 and the trip is 3+ hours. It might be possible to make that bus but probably safer to go to Tokushima the next day.
Where are they suggesting that you stay? I'd consider taking bus or train to Osaka and staying near the station. There are many options near there.
Then take bus or train to Tokushima the next day.

Thank you for your response. My university is suggesting the hotel at Kansai Airport which is really expensive. However after arriving the next day I will stay at university hostels in Kitajima. My biggest fear is navigating through the city at night yet I am a foreigner who doesn't understand Japanese

Thank you for your response. Could you let me know how many minutes walk or drive are these options from Kansai Airport? If you have links for reservations kindly direct me to their website. I am new to Japan and the town's you mention are completely new to me. It won't be easy navigating by myself without a map

It's not possible to walk anywhere from the airport. It's built on a manmade island. Do you have access to Google maps? You can look up these locations as well as transportation options. You can also search for nearby hotels. So here we can see, for example, that it takes about an hour to get from the airport to Osaka and the train fare is about Y1200.

Did the university tell you the location of the hotel they are suggesting? There are many options but here's a cheap hotel within walking distance from Osaka station. 【Official】HOTEL LANDMARK UMEDA
