Well, after this summer I plan to go to japan. After this summer that is, I'm going back to my charter school and once I graduate from 12th grade, I plan to go to japan. Tokyo.

however I know next to nothing in japanese. I'm going to have to pick up a book "Japanese for dummies" or something. Probably a kanji book too. There are so many kanji, children have to learn kanji in school, so it makes sense for them to read, but for us american folks it seems like a gargantuan task. I just wish I could read and understand japanese. Anyway, I have a few things i need to be able to know on my trip thereS: I plan to fly there and then go on foot, I might need a taxi. I also need to know some essenial kanji. Not many, just a few. To be able to read signs. Like airport signs or something.

also need to know some essenial kanji. Not many, just a few. To be able to read signs. Like airport signs or something.
All the airport and major subway station (you won't get far on foot alone) signs you'll need are in English as well. But just for bearings when you arrive, this is Tokyo : 東京 and as Mike mentioned, this is Chiba 千葉 where the airport is. More than most tourists know I'm sure.

Pretty simple, eh ? Just don't come running when you need to contact a lawyer or ask us about getting out of jail...

Thank you Elizabeth. I like it especially that you wrote how to say all this in kanji (no sarcasm intended) that way I can type it to someone. However, I cannot read kanji well yet. Could you please translate it again (Sorry) into romaji? This way, its alot easier for me to visually read it and say it. I will put the kanji/kana in my notes.

Thank you

No no! Heh, I plan to use the subways to get to tokyo, then walk in tokyo. Of course I'll probably use a cab..(hope they have cabs there) Don't most people walk in tokyo anyway?

Never been to Tokyo yet but I heard cabs are EXTREMELY expensive. So I'd stick with the subways, ne ^^

出来る (dekiru) だけ力 (chikara) になりたいと思っています。 I'll be glad to....but what exactly are you referring to ? :? The "I'm thirsty" translation was のどが渇いた
(Nodo ga kawaitta).
