I sometimes see the (笑) notation in interviews and I know what it means, but how is it pronounced? I'm stuck between kun-yomi, where you would officially have to make it either 笑い or 笑み, or on-yomi, although my ime doesn't really see it as a word that way

and a small second question: does anyone know the japanese word for a fanfic? whenever I fill in 同人, which I sort of thought would be the japanese equivalent for it, I only ever get to Chinese sites >_>

thank you in advance

(笑) (shou)

Not 100% sure, but ファンフィク is right.
I suppose 同人 has a broader meaning.

Fanfic are usually magazines so i think 同人雑誌 is the correct term...

It is said, "二次創作(にじそうさく)" and "同人小説(どうじんしょうせつ)" in case of the work that uses and creates an existing character.
既成のキャラクターを用いて創作した作品のことであれば、「二次創作」「同人小説」とも言います。

"同人小説" is a word only for the novel.
「同人小説」は小説だけに対する単語となります。

thank you very much ^^ although google.co.jp is still evil on me and won't really give the results of what I was searching for (to which I conclude that there probably isn't really much online of such), at least I have more insight on the matter now :3 And thanks for the 笑 pronunciation. I really see it in interviews a lot, so it's nice how to read it too instead of only knowing what it means
