Hi all, I was wondering what may be the difference between 風船 and 気球 ?

I think 気球 is a chinese word.. so perhaps this approach may not be very reliable

気球 is Japanese (ききゅう). As Toritoribe showed, 風船 is for like party balloons and 気球 is for blimps/hot air balloons.

I mean 気球 is a japanese word.. but because it's also a chinese word I'm suspecting that the google image search results aren't very reliable..

I gave you THE ANSWER, not the way to consult. Or, even if you interprete that the way to research is given, are you going to say that you received an unsuitable way for this specific question from those who know the correct answer and can check if the search result works perfectly fine or not before posting?
