くれてやる

Hi everyone.
As the title suggets I am having a bit of trouble grasping くれてやる, that's is, why is a 'receiving verb' inserted here? I have been trying to think of it as the subject giving the other person receiving something?

Here is an example of something I think is a bit related, but I still don't understand
（ジグロはユグロより強いから） きっと、 ジグロは、 ユグロにうたれてやったのだろう

I understand the meaning here as similar to ジグロは、 ユグロをうったのだろう but why is utu in the passive?:? It seems to be saying that jiguro 'gave' yuguro 'being hit'. Am I way off?

くれてやる is used today as an idiomatic expression to mean "to give" but with suggestion of anger and disdain toward to the person receiving it.

If I remember correctly, it is a combination of くれる (to receive/get) in -te form combined with やる (to give to someone of lower status). It has different meaning in classical Japanese and evolved into the usage I described above.

I asked someone about this and her assumption was probably, gigro let yuguro attack/shoot him( gigro) based just on that one sentence. ﾂ

Thanks so much! That makes perfect sense in the context of the story and I can sort of see that meaning in there now that I look at it.
