Dear members,

I have just upgraded the forum to the latest version of vB. This upgrade deals with a few software bugs and technical glitches. I have also updated the chat and re-enabled file sharing, especially for you, Frank!

Sounds nice !! And I didn't mind the not being able to get on line during that short time at all !! Thanks Thomas !! MM

One question...if here is ok for that...I have noticed that when posting a 'Quick Reply' even after the time limit, it seems to not go to the post even after it has been entered. I had done so, and clicked the 'Post Quick Reply' button, and got an 'error' notice with no wording, and then waiting for a while, nothing happening, had clicked it again, and got an 'already posted' error.

Just now, having clicked the QR button and the same thing happening again, I opened Jref on a new window--keeping the old--and my post was there...just thought I'd mention it in case it means anything. MM (this is also QR, so let's see how it goes. )

So I'm not the only person that's been happening to, then? Well, I sort of feel relieved by that.
 
HI EVERYBODY !! IT'S ME AGAIN !! well, I hear you Glenn !! That also makes me feel good to know that it's not only me, too. Thanks for your input there.
In that post of mine (above) you'll notice the original time of the first post of some one and a half lines or so, and then the time when the server (or is this some game that our friend J-Bot is up to, to get revenge on me?) attached my latter post onto that first one...a merger. This is kind of interesting--not I mind it, per se, but it could be bothersome. Is it something that only happens in this sub-fora? Does it only happen with QRs? I'm using 'Advance' now. Let's see how this goes. 🙂 :-)

ps...edit...advance has no problems, it seems !!
 
I know edit doesn't have problems, because I've had to edit pretty much every post I've made to get rid of the repeated section, so I figured that advanced didn't have the problem either. Actually, I had had this problem with Safari before the update, but now I'm having it with Firefox too. I swear I'm only hitting "post" once, but it keeps coming up as double posts.

As far as I can see most of the new additions are great -- the only feature I've found any inconvenience with is "AutoMerge." Is there a period after which it will time itself out, like after the window available for editing has disappeared, and we can add new posts that will actually be counted as such and that other members will actually see ?

It feels now like we're sort of being denied the right to update an earlier post on the same thread, although I know a lot of people did abuse this with strings of one line posts on a very similar aspect of the topic which could also be slightly annoying.

This is a fairly minor issue, though, Thomas, so thanks again for all the work it takes to keep this place running smoothly (for the most part ;).

I admit that the automerge is a bit bothersome. I have just limited the "automerge timespan" to five minutes and hope that's an acceptable period of time.

Unwanted Fora from "New Posts"

Arrgh...I just noticed that when I hit the link for the "new posts" the sections that I had blocked out now are showing up increasing dramatically the number of threads I have to search through.

Then I went to check my options in my settings and the option to limit the locations for showing the "new posts" no longer exists.
Please bring it back🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

The give-rep system seems a wee bit buggered too. How many between giving it to the same person? I'm sure it must have been at least ten (or more) before that last one I tried to pass out...

i like the new way it deals with trying to post when youre timed-out. it doesnt delete your post and just puts that little pop-up there.
 
Have just noticed that when you move your cursor over the male/female symbols, it comes up with where that person is residing, not their gender.

Hope it gets fixed soon.
