Yoshiki, Gackt and Sugizo start band together

If you like Jrock this might be of interest to you. X-Japans drummer Yoshiki, solo artist Gackt, Sugizo from Luna Sea and an currentlly undeterminded two others are forming a band thats going to be touring the U.S next year.

Sponichi announced December 27 that SUGIZO (ex-Luna Sea) will join forces with YOSHIKI (ex-X JAPAN) and popular singer Gackt as part of a five-member band whose name and details will be revealed in an official announcement early next year.
SUGIZO, who together with Ryuichi Kawamura formed the core of LUNA SEA, was YOSHIKI's choice for the guitarist. He was raised in a musical household headed by parents who played in an orchestra and is also proficient on the violin. During LUNA SEA's indies days the band was affiliated with YOSHIKI's record label and quickly gained renown as talented composers. The two have known each other for twenty years and are very close.
ﾂ"At first glance, SUGIZO seems like some mysterious visitor from another world. But his feelings about music are really pure,ﾂ" YOSHIKI said.
SUGIZO described YOSHIKI as ﾂ" a great older brother who I can always depend on. I'm honored that he asked me to be a part of his new project.ﾂ"
SUGIZO and Gackt met for the first time at a music event four years ago. Although they initially saw each other as rivals, they have come to respect each other's musical ability.
ﾂ"The first time we met ended on a sour note,ﾂ" Gackt said, laughing. ﾂ"We parted fighting and I felt like it was really too bad that we didn't get along so I'm happy that we get to work together.ﾂ"
ﾂ"Gackt has a really strong personality and lots of charisma. It's hard to imagine what his life is like but when you meet him you really come to trust him,ﾂ" SUGIZO said.
X JAPAN broke up in 1997, Gackt left MALICE MIZER in 1999 to become a solo artist, and SUGIZO has been constantly working since LUNA SEA's breakup in 2000. It's a dream come true for many people to see three members of the most influential bands of the Visual Kei era working together. YOSHIKI will play drums and piano, and Gackt, who is also committed to NHK's drama ﾂ"Fuurin Kazanﾂ" until Autumn, will hold down vocals.
ﾂ"I think that we'll end up having five members,ﾂ" YOSHIKI said. ﾂ"It's great that we've got some big names on board and I hope that we're able to make it big worldwide.ﾂ"
ﾂ"Each of us has a strong personality and is somewhat selfish. I'm sure everyone thinks that our band will fall apart, but we really want to become the first Asian band to top the world charts,ﾂ" said Gackt.
ﾂ"Look out for high-impact, explosive rock music,ﾂ" said SUGIZO.
What sort of chemical reaction will result from the mixing of these three intense individuals? They're definitely going to cause waves in the music world next year.

Since I like all three artists I'm really excited to see what will happen! It's at least bond to be interesting that's for sure~ I can't wait to see who other two members will be~

Also I'm wondering... what will happen to the solo projects? Are they going to be put on hold? ... Well, I guess I'll have to wait and see like everyone else...

WOW~ Miyavi?? If that IS the case, WOW~ Is all I really have to say on the matter~ It's going to one original band that's for sure~

They all have fairly different sounds so put together.... it's bound to be something different!

I just have to see where it goes from here. It would be more interesting to me if it were just Sugizo and Miyavi in a band together, but adding Yoshiki and Gackt to that mix...I dunno what to think about that. Just so many styles and egos clashing, it's insane.

yes... i think the egos clashing is perhaps an even bigger attraction than the music XDDDD

the only problem i would see with Miyavi beeing there is that he's been a solo artist for such a long time... there's no WAY Yoshiki would have him on vocals if he did get Miyavi in the mix... so i dunno wether he would accept on those terms... cos he's very much in his 'own' is dear old Miyavi ^^;

... mind you, so is Gackt... but unless Yoshiki wants someone else to play the piano (HA!) or bring in a bit of Violin to the mix (or if you must, guitar) then... i think it's safe to say Gackt will be on vocals ^^;

Sugizo will probably play rythem or lead guitar and/or violin
Yoshiki will do drums and piano
Miyavi will either be lead or rythem guitarist

Now only a bassist is missing from that mix. I wonder...

well.... it hasn't been officially announced that Miyavi will play....
but i figgured that would be the line up... however, what i was pointing out was that Miyavi (if he has been asked) may not bee terribly happy about going back to being just a guitarist... cos i think he's too pleased with the fact that it's all him atm ^^; - in my opinion ^^;

but yeah... i was trying to think of a bassist they might ask...
the bestest ones i can think of are tied up in bands....
would be amazing if he asked Kisaki though... however i don't think he's gunna leave phantasmagoria anytime soon ^^;

I don't think Kisaki would leave Phantasmagoria... or at least I would hope not >.< But I can't think of a bassist that's NOT in a band... Maybe, it's another soloist that has done bass before?

But, isn't Phantasmagoria disbanding completely? Matoi and Iori are leaving, and now Kisaki is in trouble for tax evasion and failing to report profits for Undercode.

It's not disbanding, at least not as far as anyone knows though it is true that Matoi and Iori ARE leaving... As for Undercode I don't have much info on that.... and for the Tax evasion Kisaki's paying for that >____< I don't like thinking about that...

I really can't think of anyone myself... I don't really know of a bassist that has quite the same personlity as those displayed by Yoshiki, Gackt Sugizo and Miyavi... So I can't say who it could be...

What would be FUNNY would be if it was Yu~ki from Malice Mizer... what a way to make a come back ne?

Im sorry guys but I dont like Gackt. No offense, he has a really sexy voice but I just dont like him.
I just cant imagine Miyavi being in a band with these guys. I mean they were all part of some of the greatest jrock bands, and adding Miyavi would be a little odd right? Not that Miyavi isnt great or anything Mmm but then again Miyavi is super good at the guitar, it could happen...

And... I could see it haooening actually, but weather or not Miyavi is joining hasn;t been confirmed so... till it is or not... there;s nothing I can say...

I wouldn't really find it that odd, I could actually see it happening... Miyavi has a personality very similar to Gackt, Yoshiki and Sugizo.... which is to say very self-confident... But who knows right? It's just a rumour.

there's no dobt Miyavi is an emencely tallented Guitarist... due'le weren't really a huge revolutionary band... infact they were bearly known... but Miyavi is one of the biggest stars around in Japan... he's possibly more 'well known' today than Yoshiki and SUGOZI... like, as an all rounder... but i coudn't really say for sure...

see... i DO know a bassist who'd match their egos and talent.... however he's in a band and they are NOT gunna split up... ever... i will kick their asses if they ever do... ¬_¬

o, in reference to liking Gackt...um... i really don't like a lot of his music, but i think he does have a great performing ability and a good musical talent... pluss i'd like to see what Yoshiki plans to do with someone with a voice like him... i don't think he's really worked with one like this before... well... Rose sort of i suppose... but he didn't really get involved with the music making process i don't think.... :?

This band sounds like a crazy dream come true. I mean, fans have imagined diff people in a band together right? And this very new combination actually happened.. Feels like a gathering musically.
