Hi
Just looking to see if anyone has been to Mt. Koya. I'm hoping to have a two week vacation in Oct. and I am very interesting in seeing and staying at Mt.Koya for a while. Any info would help. I'll be heading there from Kyoto and then possibly going to Fukaoka afterward.
here's some random pictures. These are from Jan 2004. No good stories come to mind, except the temple monks weren't afraid to share a few drinks with me. It's nice to get up for morning chanting with a hang-over.
We stayed there about a year ago at the Rengejo-in monastery. The abbot and his mother speak some English and gave us a history of the place. The food is delicious kaiseki. Anyway, it was gorgeous and worth going a bit out of our way.
WOW for the pics and OOKI thanks for the web page info. I've traveled a bit so I'm kind of looking for places like Mt. Koya that I didn't get to the first time around. I can't wait to kampai with the monks!!! Wish you had some pics of that!! Hontoni arigatoo gozaimasu. =)
