A drawing of the former donjon at Sunpu Castle. Tokugawa Ieyasu started the construction in 1585. In 1607, Ieyasu started a renovation of the castle but it burned down in the same year. The donjon was rebuilt in 1610 but again destroyed by fire in 1635. After that, it was not reconstructed anymore.
