Okay sooo :D

I was thinking I want to practice reading Hiragana text but its suprisingly difficult given the grasp of grammar I have.. Only been at this 6 weeks. I was thinking perhaps trying to get hold of some ''nursery reading books'' like the kind really small children would learn to read. Very basic stories and sentences etc but with meaning. Thing is finding things written in hiragana isnt hard but finding things written in absolute newbie 3yr old language is very hard and for all intensive purposes I am a 3 year old with the language. Memorizing all the kana and sentences rules only goes so far I need material to work with in order to learn how to read properly but I'm not sure where to get such rudimentary stuff from does anyone know where I could?

Are you using any sort of textbook or other such structured material?

Story books, even for three year old children, will contain grammar that is far beyond what you have learned so far, or are likely to learn for probably another year or two. Studying for six weeks gets one nowhere near what a native speaking three year old can comprehend.

Reading is an important skill, but as I pointed out elsewhere, the language and the writing system are two different things. Plug along on developing reading skills as best you can, but don't let the pace of your learning be determined by your reading skills.

And how about this pdf file linked below?

http://www.gamba.co.jp/step_pdf/1-1-yomimono.pdf

This is from a textbook for pre-school children. There are few kanji in it but they all have furigana. There also contains katakana, since it's "critically essential" in Japanese.;-)

As Mike-san wrote, I, too, think that it would be tough to grasp the meaning of the sentences even for learners who have learned for six months or maybe a year.

Hmmm you're right... Some of the Kanji I know and dont need the Furigana but the Katakana is a pain. I can understand sparse bits but not enough to get the overall plot -_-

See what I mean?

Yes Cash, spookily enough... I do. As I already said to Toritoribe he was right and Its still a bit advanced for me. But rub it in some more its all good.. Because we're all born fluent experts with the right too talk down to others and take the piss arent we. I never in fact stated you ''werent'' right either. Just get off the high horse man I'm a newbie, not fluent.

Cheers all

I really would like to know why you have such a huge bug up your butt regarding me. I've done nothing to you but give serious and patient replies to your posts. If it bothers you to have your mistaken and uninformed opinions addressed by others then you might wish to think twice before posting them in public places.
