Hi there!! Nice forum (very informative). I have some very important questions (especially for me). Can any one help me by answering these most important questions:

1. Which scholarship is better: Monbukagakusho or Erasmus Mundus (based on monthly allowance, income, value of the degree, accommodation, job facilities etc.)?

2. Is it possible to do part time job in Japan as a Monbukagakusho Research Scholar?

3. How much money (average) can anyone safe from Monbukagakusho (In Ryukyus University,Okinawa) or Erasmus Mundus (The Netherlands) scholarship?

Please provide me some important suggestions.....

1. monbusho. because you get yen
2. yes, but your professor will not allow it
3. 10,0000yen/month

3. 10,0000yen/month

Is it true?? Only 54,000 yen (as research student would get 1,54000) will be cost for a month in Okinawa?! (Ryukyus University) Does it cover all of living cost (accommodation, food, internet use, electricity, mobile bill etc)? You can clearly explain it (as its a new topic). Erasmus Mundus allows part time job and its monthly allowance is 1200 Euros (from 2010 semester). But there is difficult to get PhD in Europe. What about other people?? No reply!! Have anyone can provide any other idea?? Please share....

yes, 100,000+ yen a month can be saved. my lab mates do it all the time, but they spend 80+ hours a week in the lab.

Sometimes it may be possible. But in the average condition, how much can be saved? Someone told that in the Ryukyus University, you can safe more money. Some one prefer Erasmus Mundus scholarship as it allows part time job and the monthly allowance is nice. In a facebook group it has been discussed that the amount for Monbukagakusho scholar will be reduced drastically. There is another question? Waiting for another people response....

If you want to make savings you should seek permanent employment. Scholarships are supposed to help you through your education and not to fatten up your bank account.

^As neonfish said. I originally replied as a joke. In all seriousness, I'm sure both scholarships will allow you to live a good, money-carefree life. You should choose the scholarship base on which country you want to study in or which university you would like to enter.

while we are on this topic, I have to say, I really don't like how some people save their money only to have it wired back home.

Yap,nice suggestions yar!! But, some people wants to know how much can u safe from Monbukagakusho scholarship? Its a practical matter I think. money is another problem in life, u know. Just for curiosity. The people who have already got Monbukagakusho, they may help other people by sharing some practical and important things. Share man if you have experience.
