My sister and her hubby are maiking plans to Visit Japan this October for their anniversary. I know the shots they're supposed to get, because I've had them. Where would someone stateside go to get the required vaccinations if they were planning to visit Japan? I'm military, so it's too easy for me...lol

I've been to Japan 3 times (#4 is coming the day after tomorrow) and I've never had to have vaccinations. Maybe it is different with service personnel, but for civilians there does not seem to be a requirement.

AFAIK you don't need vacs for entering Japan (don't know about military)

I wasn't sure if vaccinations were required for American travelers who are planning to go to Japan, so I jsut did a quick search. It doesn't seem like it is required, but some are recommended depending on the place(rural, farming country) and length of your stay.

It is good to have them updated before you travel since it might be hard to get a sufficient medical care in Engligh, though.

For as far as I know there are no vaccinations needed, I only heard something about a vaccination about the birdflu... well I don't know really, can't find that.

Have a look here too: Japan

I've never had to get vaccinations going over to Japan, so i don't see why they'd need them. The sites they've listed would be your best bet to check out. My friend who's in the Navy didn't have to get an vaccinations when he went over to Japan and he's stationed in the US.
