I had read somewhere that there are shops that sale used keitais, I am unable to find any info for sucha shop in fukuoka and wonder if anybody might know of such a place here. man there new line of phones are awesome so jealous.

thanks guys.

You can get a pretty good deal on "new" old model phones nowadays, is that what you mean? Used phones would be pretty damn old, people tend to keep ahold of them or pass them along to other people (friends or family).

I meant used phones.
But I want to get a 3g vodafone unlock it and use it in the us but only certain phones can be unlocked so I need to buy one of those. And buying new means contract stuff. I guess I can ask my girlfriend more about it or keep checking yahho jp.

My keitai was about 2000 yen, that can't possibly be too much can it? ...Seriously though, you should get one of the new foma P902i's... they're flash!

<-- this was my 300th post... woo.

The foma's are cool, I wanne have one. I play around with all kind of phones everyday.. aaaa I love my job as a phone tester at DoCoMo hahahahaha

i can't use docomo this phone is to be unlocked and used in america when i return. only vodafone 3g series phones work.

I had used my son's vodaphone to contact you when we were there, but it ended up being very, very expensive, and all calls were collect. That means, for example when my mother or sisters called Sho's phone to check up on us, or just to talk, even when we were in Alabama, Sho paid the bill.

Here in Japan, Vodaphone has some problems connecting at times, due to its probably being a small organization yet--at least according to Sho. He is no longer using it, and has gone back to Docomo foma.

Used keitai? I've never heard of such. Are you in Japan now Damicci san ???

Vodafone is alot bigger than people think, the Vidafone group is in dozens of countries, has almost 200million customers and is worth over $100 Billion dollars

Thanks for that input there Ewok85 san !! I'll pass it on to Sho....

That is true for world-wide sales but Vodaphone is having some serious problems here in Japan, it is expected that Vodaphone will be getting out of the cell phone market here in Japan due to loses suffered when it introduced it 3G telephones. Softbank is being touted as the new owner of Vodaphone here in Japan.

The kind of used keitai that you want are called "shiro-romu keitai" (窶昶?卮陳哉停ぎナ暖窶佚堕)that no longer have telephone numbers. You can buy it on the Web from Rakuten and also at websites like this:
http://www.dngsp.com/w-rom_vodafone.htm
http://esearch.rakuten.co.jp/rms/sd/esearch/vc?sv=2&sitem=%C7%F2%A5%ED%A5%E0

I don't know the respectability of such vendors, so you have to risk it. You can also have your GF google with that term to find other websites and actual shops in Fukuoka.

Good luck!

Mars Man: Your son is right about Vodaphone not working in many places! Its service area is very limited compared to au and DoCoMo.

Thanks epigene san. I checked with him again about that and he did clarify that what he had had in mind was the sevice area ranges are smaller than the other carriers. (and he added that next year Yahoo would be buying Vodaphone...)

thanks epigene shiro-rom turned up quite a bit more info, but looks like there are no shops in the fukuoka area, she's going to take me to eletronics shop in the metro area of fukuoka to see if they offer these type of phones.

Is it possible to register new account/number/subscription with shiro-rom/used keitai? I've been looking at the Softbank keitai and wouldn't want to be tied down with their 2years superbonus plan. I'll rather buy it off auction site.

upnextwireless.com has some unlocked Asian phones. Also if you find the model you are looking for you can check E-bay or Yahoo Japan. I have a friend that works in the Keitai business that sells used phones on Yahoo Japan so if you have a model # you like I can check to see if she can get one and for how much.

Thanks ET_Fukuoka for the reply..there are fews phones on my wishlist when I search over the Yahoo Japan auction and Rakuten..I just need to know is it possible for me to buy those phone and walk over to the nearest service provider (Softbank/KDDI au/Docomo) shop, sign up for a new contract. Softbank seems to be offering cheap plan, white plan 980yen/month plus extra 300yen for email serivces..FYI my Japanese is not that good..
