Trading stocks as a student

I am a Master's student in Japan and I am interested in trading stocks.
Is it forbidden or OK?
I am a MEXT scholar.

As long as you are trading with your own money and not working for someone else, I don't see why it would not be allowed.

Now, as to whether it is a good idea to actively trade, that is another matter

You can trade online, there are hundreds of choices for you out there. If you are just doing it for yourself with your money I can't see how it would be disallowed under your visa as it isn't 'work'.

I would strongly advise against putting your valuable yen at risk without any knowledge and or expert advice (which will cost you).
How about trying an online trading game or app like this first, and see how good you are.
