Not only tonkatsu, but other kinds of katsu are great as well. Luckily, you can make them rather easily even when you are not living in Japan. All the necessary utilities and food you need for it, is easy to get.
When I was in Japan, I loved to eat tonkatsu and ramen, if I ate outside somewhere it mainly consisted of either one. Few times I also ate some soba, but that is already another story.
