The Supernatural

Can somebody let me know about different Japanese beliefs in the supernatural? Like, if they have any legends about ghosts or demons and if they have any way to repel them... for example China has legends about Hopping Ghosts or Chiuang-Shis, which can produce gail winds with their breath and and have red eyes, and hop because of the burial garments that ,sometimes in the period of the Qing-Chng-Dynasty, bound the legs making it impossible to walk. I was wondering if Japan has any cool legends about spirits and how to fend them off.
