Well, from my limited knoweldge, basically, wat started like a small student protest, suddenly burst out into a huge public explosion protests, strikes, and manifestation throught France. The government was really almost about to Collapse. De Gaulle at one point fled the country, but then after some negotians things calmed down. It was an almost real socialist revolution.
