How long does it normally take for someone to get a TESL Certificate through an online course such as Drexel University Online?

Also, how long does it normally take for someone to get the same in an actual classroom course?
 
If this is in conjunction with your stated desire to come to Japan and be a pimp, a TESL Certificate isn't going to move you any closer to solving the visa problem.

If you put half the energy into achieving your goals that you put into seeking cheats, shortcuts, and back doors you'd set the world on fire.

As for actual classroom courses, depends. Mine took half a year; half the courses (yes, more than one) were night courses, and the other half were intensive day courses. Another option at that place was to do it all in 3 months with intensive summer courses, but I missed the deadline.

Like Mike said, a TESL certificate won't help your situation. You need an actual degree or sufficient work experience.

But, the thread you started has been closed for obvious reasons. You ignore advice here and want to come to start a prostitution ring anyway, despite the illegalities of that alone.

Moderators, check, please (again).

Kruniac, you have convinced this moderator at least that you are nothing but a troll. I hope that I am proven wrong.

And please learn how to do SOME basic research yourself. If you know the college you want to attend, the first place to look for information about it is not at Jref, but rather that college's homepage.
 
I know someone who studied by correspondance to get her TESL certificate so she could teach English in China. She finished her course within about a year i think and is now teaching english in Simao, China.

I'm not sure how well the Eikaiwa schools look at the qualification but i'm fairly sure some kind of tertiary qualification is needed in any case if you want to teach english in Japan.

I respectfully advise you to ignore Kruniac. On another thread (just locked) that he started, he ranted on and on about having zero college, only a GED, no experience in work, no inclination to get any experience, no money for a degree (and no desire to get money for the degree), and claimed to want to start a prostitution ring in Japan. That's 5 pages or so in a nutshell. He totally ignored common sense there and was shut down, so he decided to post this tripe.

Advice to all: don't feed the trolls (except cheese; they love that).
 
The reason I ask is because Gaba made me an offer to call them to speak to a recruiter, and that alone gives me enough of a nod to get a TEFL. I'll probably sign up for an online course tonight, and hopefully get it finished before long.

Five years experience teaching ESL will more than likely help my chances, too. It pays to be an information hog - you would be surprised how many ESL schools (-Especially- volunteer-based) are closed with no forwarding contact information, but yet have information that can be garnered on the internet.

So. Soon I'll have my TESL/TEFL certificate, and five years of experience volunteering teaching English. I think I'm getting on the right track. Now all I have to do is get a foot in the door.

(PS, blah blah, I'm not a troll, etc etc,)
