I couldn't find a thread about this artist already, so--
Has anybody heard of tamurapan?

I don't know much about her (them?), but I just found her because she was playing on somebody's myspace profile (haha), and I visited her myspace and thought instantly that she was amazing and that her music sounded beautiful.

I get the hint that she's new and not very well-known yet.

If anybody knows anything about her, please tell! =)

Edit: Okay I read further on her myspace, so now I know that tamurapan is a solo project by Ayumi Tamura.

Okay here's a bit of background I stole from tokyograph.com -- it was posted on September 7, 2007:

Singer-songwriter Ayumi Tamura, better known by her solo project name tamurapan, will be making her major label debut next month. At the end of last year, Tamura joined MySpace and began using the site to release her songs, all completely self-produced. She built a following of thousands of fans in a few months, catching the attention of more than ten record labels. She finally signed a contract as the first artist on Robin Works, a new internet label being launched by Columbia Music Entertainment on the 12th of this month. On October 10, two of her songs are being officially released: "Semenai Day" (for free) and "Heiyo Meiyo." Tamura also has a performance lined up at Shibuya O-West on October 25 to commemorate her debut. After October, the label will release a new single every month until next March, and her first album is expected to go on sale in April.
Tamura is the first Japanese artist to start on MySpace and get signed to a major label.

Cool stuff. I keep wanting to buy one of her albums (there are two on towerrecords.co.jp and another one coming out, plus like eight million singles), but then I realize I'm broke.
