Yesterday after work, I visited Takiyama Castle, inspired by Uehara-san's article. Since his visit there, Takiyama Castle has been added to the "Continued Top 100 Japanese Castles" (日本続百名城
Nihon Zoku Hyaku-Meijō). This year, the castle celebrates its 500th anniversary.
The entire fortification was enormous, and its dry moats and earthwork are well-preserved. I did not have time to visit all the trenches on the southern side of the perimeter.
Here a few impressions:
This is the northern part of the castle facing the Tamagawa. The steep approach was practically impregnable. The southern part was protected by an intricate network of dry moats and earthwork.
