what does "straight-edge" in japanese mean? y'know. the kind of being that doesn't drink, studies for hours on end, and tends to get all shocked at vulgarity in general?

i suppose these criteria could describe a chunk of japanese culture in general, though.

There's plenty I haven't seen in Japan, but one thing was a straight-edge Japanese (in reference to the hardcore straight-edge/sxe movement , since that's the first thing I think of when I hear "straight-edge" ). The concept of vulgarity is a bit different, and drinking and smoking are pretty commonplace.

As for someone who is like a "goody two shoes," 優等生 works. A friend's first response was 超いい子 (chou ii ko, "really good kid")
