hey i just about a month ago took some time to learn shogi. It's a lot more interesting than European chess and a lot more fun. My question is this is there somewhere online that you can play against human beings? Playing against the computer is getting dull.
something like this InstantChess.com
but with shogi instead.
ps if this is in the wrong thread im sorry.

If you search for it you'll find many sites where you can play online. In Japan Yahoo! is used a lot:

You need an account with Yahoo! Japan.

thanks. i found a bunch of small sites but they only had about 10 people playing.

I've played it a few times on this site but there aren't many people there:

I'm looking forward to learning the game. From what I can gather 'western' chess isn't very popular in Japan. Has anyone played in any tournaments in Japan?
