Shichisanshiki is an indie visual kei band with a pretty unique approach to both their music and costumes. They play upbeat rock music, which is in general of a better quality then other bands who are this new. The songs usually consist of catchy rhythms and melodies, sometimes a bit jazz inspired and the guitars are often on the foreground playing fast solos.
The members seem to have a good sense of humor as well, which can be found in a number of funny songs: a choir kind of singing an ode to them, or a wedding song as the intro of a song.
The members are always seen sporting a pair of black, thick rimmed glasses and usually some kind of jacket, which makes them look kind of nerd-like although in a funny way. Their humor can also be found in their outfits: the band's mascot, a little man, is sitting on the shoulder of the vocalist.
In February 2004, the guitarist Dye (former Laissez Faire, Hanoru and more) and vocalist Aika (former Crescent Moon and others) decided to form a new band. Dye contacted Sho, with who he had been playing before in the bands Hanoru and Red-ey' and he was recruited as the bassist of the band. Chama (former Garvella) joined as the second guitarist and Aki (former Variable Messiah and support member of Oto-oni) as drummer. The line-up was complete now, consisting of five talented and very experienced members.
In June they had their first performances and their first release followed shortly after. Kanjou 73 gousen was released in August and their second single followed in December.
2005 started for the band with various performances, mostly at big events. In May they released their third maxi-single and shortly after in July, Dye left the band. Nonetheless, the four members of the band continued and after the releasing a second press of their first maxi, they released the maxi-single Himawari in November.
In 2006 the band had various performances again and another maxi-single was released in February: Sanshokubinsen. Then in March, another member left the band, this time Aki. Again, the band continued with one member less and while often these kind of member changes lead to the whole band breaking up, the three of them continued. Though, it wasn't long that they stayed as a three-man band, on their one-man concert of July 2nd, To-ki was introduced as the new drummer of the band.
After the release of two more singles, Naoki joined the band as the second guitarist in March 2007. We will be able to listen to his skills on April 4th, when the band will release their very first album: Negai...
