Hey Everyone!

My name is Cassy, This is my boyfriends account and Im sorry if my using it bothers anyone, however I have a small question to pose, as he is moving to Japan in January and I am seriously thinking about going with him. However there is a big fear for me of being assaulted or raped on the trains, or just in general, like you see the popular H anime's and all that. Do things really get out of hand like that, I am very scared to be molested by old men on the train during rush hour -_-

Well I won't make you any promises, but most likely you won't find yourself as the victim. However, bad stuff can happen anywhere. The best thing you could do is just take proper precautions. Also if you live in a less crowded area, your chances of becoming a victim are quite small I think. But if anybody ever touches you just yell out "chikan" at the top of your lungs, and if you have the means, give him a knee to the nuts and go find a station attendant asap to have him arrested. I don't know but I imagine the perverts in Japan do what they do cuz they think the woman will just be silent and take it.. so they think they can get away with it. Make a fuss and they will mostly likely go back to the gutter they crawled out of.
 
They have womens only cabins if you are that concerned. I think Japan is a safe place to live, I would not be too overly concerend about stuff like that. But take precations if it makes you feel better.

Once you stop making assumptions about Japan based on anime then you might feel different about your safety in Japan. Japan has some of if not the safest large cities in the world.
 
I don't mean make you feel bad, but your fears are unfounded, especially if you are basing them on what you've seen in anime and manga. You are at pretty much zero risk of getting molested on the train, if only because of the perception that foreigners (especially westerners) won't sit quietly for it. In the extremely unlikely event that someone touches you inappropriately, make a scene about it and it will cease immediately. Particularly if you're there with your boyfriend, do you think people are just going to try to rape you in front of him? Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?
 
The answers above should mostly put you at ease. There is no real concern, chances of anything bad happening are small, especially if you pay attention.

I would suggest you get your own account, however. As far as I know, it's not cool at all to use another member's account here on JREF.

This is Adam once again Cassy has gone home. I think you guys have relaxed some of her fears about going to Japan. She has a fear of that sort of thing in just about all city's, its just worse as it tends to be a recurring theme in Hentai and what not. While it may seem relatively ignorant to base an opinion in that, however in every lie and every fantasy there is always a grain of truth, its always a good idea to see just how large that grain is.

There is no doubt that most other men will not even go so far as to look at her in the wrong way, I suspect not alot of people down there want to deal with a 260 pound angry Scotsman lol. But I to must admit, I worry about her safety when I cant be with her, as we do both have to work and its not likely we will be working at the same place and her question seemed reasonable enough, so thank you to everyone who answered this question
 
Not to make any more generalizations, but it also seems much more likely of a japanese pervert to oggle a woman or try and steal their socks or underwear than to actually assault someone . Remember these are the guys who pay to just talk to a woman (not in character) wearing a cosplay uniform.
 
Don't lie Adam... It was you all along, you just didn't want anyone to know that even though you are 260lbs you were scared about riding the trains here! LOL Just kidding!

But in all seriousness, Cassy is very happy that its an overdone fantasy without many roots in reality, Everything should go smooth now

I have yet to see pink haired girls coming out of my closet at night before I start believing it...

If something like that happens, just yell "Chikan "like Chidoriashi advised and everybody will stare at the person. I know some female friends who went to Japan for a year and nothing like that happened... occidental girls usually might get some gazes but nothing more...
