Hi,

A friend of my daughter's wishes to see a Seibu Lions baseball game on August 24th, 2006.

Is there anyone that can help find out when tickets will be sold for that game, how my daughter's friend can purchase the ticket(s) (at the gate, via broker online...), and offer any other general information.

I'm just wondering if the friend of your daughter's speak/read Japanese.

I'd really like to help you on this, but I'm afraid my English is not good enough to tell you all the details. I could try, but I wouldn't wish to cause you any troubles or misunderstandings and all that.

If they can read Japanese, here's an official website for Seibu Lions.
By clicking "Dome Info" below the blue logo at that website and then "Dome Information", they can see all those information on tickets they may want to know, such as where to buy tickets, the price of each seat and it has even a discount coupon.

I hope you will get more help on this from other members here, but should you need further information, I'd be glad to help and try the best I can.

Yes, the ticket(s) for the game on August 24, 2006, is now available.
They can purchase one(s) at certain convenience stores in Kanto area, like "Family Mart", as well as at the gate of the Invoice Seibu Dome now.

Your English seems to be very good as I understood everything that you wrote.

I am trying to find out now if my daughter's friend can read or write Japanese, but I have the feeling he might not.

As for those tickets...are tickets sold for individual games, or as a series? I looked at the eplus website and it seemed as though the tickets were being sold as a three game series. At least, that's the way it looked to me (I don't read Japanese at all!).

Since this guy is only going to be in Tokyo for the one evening I don't think he'll be wanting tickets for three games.

First of all, I thank you for your kind words. I'm so glad that I was able to get through to you.

Regarding your question, yes, the tickets are sold for individual games, not as series. He can purchase a ticket for only one game he wants.
It's very natural you got the feeling of tickets being sold as series because it says "Aug. 22 - Aug. 24" on the websites. But it doesn't mean he needs to buy tickets for 3 games, it just means Lions have a game against Chiba Marines 3 days in a row. So, he can just pick one out of those 3 days based on his preferences.

Here is some additional information which I think you might find useful.

As of today, a plenty of tickets are available according to e-plus, and I'm sure they will be as well on the day of the game. Alhough there are other places to purchase tickets and they sell at a discount price in advance, buying one at the gate might be the best choice for him unless he speaks Japanese.

As for the tickets prices, it varies depending on the seats;
1,600 yen per person for the outfield bleachers is the least expensive, and 4,500 yen for infield bleachers is the most. Non-reserved seats are a little less expensive then reserved ones.

Lastly, he might know this but just to be safe, Invoice Seibu Dome is located in Saitama, not in Tokyo.

I was aware of the Invoice Dome being in Saitama. I enjoy looking at maps and was able to find the Dome and the train line on one of several maps I have of the Tokyo area. Unfortunately, the map didn't answer any of the questions I had. Thankfully, you came along with some great answers.

I'm so glad to have been of some help to you.
I agree, looking at maps is always fun, and I wish they could speak sometimes, too.

Now for some more information:
-From Tokyo to Invoice Dome, it takes about 1 hour to 1 hour and half by train depending on where in Tokyo he leaves from. The last train for Tokyo leaves around 11:30pm, but I'm sure the game should end way before.

-There is a 500yen discount coupon on the Lion's website for you to print out, but it uses Java script and I can't link it. If he's interested in it, I could make a screenshot and put the image here.

-Light meal, snacks and beverages are available inside and outside the Dome as well as Lions's fan items.(Like, T-shirts, key-chains, etc.) You can also buy food/snacks at the supermarket nearby beforehand, but you are not to allowed to bring any cans and bottles inside the dome.

-This is how it looks inside. The dome actually has no walls.

I think that's about it for now.
I've never been to the Invoice Dome myself, and yet I'm starting to feel familiar. Meantime, I'm curious to know why Lions? Does he like Lions or is it because that's the only game held near Tokyo on that day?

Ah. I figured so. That being a case, he might want to go watch BayStars' game instead?

There's a game, BayStars vs Giants, on the same day August 24th, in Yokohama Stadium, which is much closer and easier than going to the Invoice Dome. From Tokyo to Kan'nai Station(near Yokohama) takes you less than one hour by train, and the stadium is within 3-5 minutes walk from Kan'nai station. Besides, there's a China Town near the Stadium, it's a fun and popular place to hang around.
I've been there MANY times and I like the stadium and its atmosphere very much.

Disadvantages of Yokohama Stadium are 1) ticket prices is a bit higher than Invoice one, 2)The game might get cancelled in case it rains.

The tickets for this game will be available from July 8th.

Should he change his mind, I can get you more detailed information on Yokohama Stadium, too.

Yes, tickest are available at certain convenience stores. However, you still need to operate terminal machine to purchase tickets, and I doubt if they have English guidance. So, asking the clerk or someone who speaks English would be the best for that matter. And if he could purchase tickets at discount ticket stores(there are a lot of them in Tokyo), that'd be the least expensive way.
