The Japanese way of reverse abdominal breathing. Simple and powerful.
 
In Zen practise, it is known as fukushiki kokyu, but is superseded by 'tanden kokyu' where the belly remains pushed during the whole breathing cycle. It is the method we use when practising Japanese swordsmanship.

This video shows how it's done with the aid of a 'hara meter'!
 
I was briefly taught how to breath like this by a monk at a famous shrine in Kyoto but it turned out to be a pretense to sexually assault me. I mean that in the most benign sense of S.A. but the fact of the matter is that he put his hand down my pants and purposefully touched my willy and it was quite shocking.
 
Sexual assault is sexual assault! I hope you punched and reported him?

Unfortunately not. Like many a victim I was in disbelief and didn't know how to react. I even have pictures with him that we took before the incident.

That's really awful. You could report his now. I'm sure it won't have been the first time he's done this and do he'll have a reputation...no smoke without fire.

It was 30 years ago. He's probably head priest now.

I thought about putting it on social media to make it public but the laws in Japan are such that I could be charged with libel even if my claim was known to be true.
