I have been reading through a Teach Yourself beginners mandarin book and have pretty much reached the point of learning all the grammar it teaches. There is perhaps more, and I will pick up a mandarin demystified book later. In the meantime, I need to read! It is tough learning to read proficiently before setting foot on the language's native soil, and thus I need to immerse myself in the books myself. Can someone suggest a book suited to the limited range of hanzi I may be able to read? Or alternatively a good bulk of text on the web?
