The recent thread about "to" and "re" reminds me of some questions about pronunciation, i already have for a very long time.
Is じ pronounced in any way differently from ち ? Is it "dshi" and "tshi"?
How do you pronounce the doubled consonant in いっしょに (isshoni) and in ホッチキス (hocchikisu)? Is it pronounced "is-shoni" and "hot-chikisu", or "ish-shoni" and "hoch-chikisu"?
When do you use つ゛instead of ず and is it pronounced differently?

I'm also still wondering how to make the つ゛ display on a Japanese keyboard, so if anyone can explain it simply please do....
