Hi there all of you interested in joining us at GSAPS !
I am a student at GSAPS and part of the Student Association (GSA). It is a great school and you will have a lot of fun, meet interresting people and really develop you expertise on issues in the Asia-Pacific Region.
GSA is the official Student organization at GSAPS, Waseda. Basically we are volunteers helping current and prospective students at our faculty. (After having been accepted, we welcome you to join us).
About your questions. In short: You will have an interview with three professors for about 15 minutes. Prepare your research topic well. The more you can talk about it, the less you will be asked detailed questions. Your Chinese, Japanese, English or any other relevant language will be tested, but only to the extend of which you indicated you proficiency level, so don't worry about that. Lastly, there will be a written examination testing you knowledge on East Asia and international relations. Putting issues in a broader context is what is looked for. So you should know about Regionalization, Globalization, the rise of China and the East Asia Factory etc.
General advice: Be eager and don't worry too much !
Hope to see you soon in the 8th floor lounge for coffee and a chat.
